I am saddened by the news of death and devastation coming out of Haiti. What a horrible tragedy. Haiti is just a few hundred miles from the US, and even before this catastrophe, most Haitians lived in extreme poverty. This small country has had to endure so much already… and now this. It is times like these where we should stand up, pay attention and give help where we can. As I have said before, even the smallest of actions have an impact. To all the aid workers on the ground – thank you. My heart goes out to all Haitians in their time of need.

last night, I got to experience what a lot of NYC’ers get to do- ring in the holiday season at “FEINSTEINS AT THE LOEWS REGENCY HOTEL”, starring the man himself- Michael Feinstein! This year, he joined long time pal David Hyde Pierce. The chemistry of this dynamic duo was pure perfection! If you have a chance to see their show (it runs thru the end of december..so RUN!)

so yes, i did indeed tune in to watch the magic. i was impressed. whitney looked and sounded so great- glad someone upstairs has been listening to our prayers to get her back to now! it’s always nice too when artists re-do their songs, like kelly clarksons performance, stripped down. LOVED it…that hair tho, it was def a hair-don’t! with the hype about the Black Eyed Peas, i was expecting a brilliant piece from them. felt personally that they had an off night, which is fine- we all have those moments. adam lambert grinding all over the place was…uh…um…well it was adam lambert grinding all over the place i suppose!

all and all- it was a great show, entertaining, just one weird moment for me was when Michael Jackson kept winning (which was awesome!) and his brother kept going up to recieve the award on michaels behalf…someone shouldve told him that it was for MICHAEL, not him!

Linda Eder…Live in Concert.

if you’ve never seen linda eder in concert- put on one of her albums, close your eyes, and picture her on stage with a band. THATS what you’ll see! Her voice is as clear and perfect as you’d hear thru a bose surround sound. INCREDIBLE! Over the years, I’ve probably seen Linda live a dozen times…never once has she sung a bad song. She not only sang things off her new album “Soundtrack”, but she gave the fans what they expect- those Broadway show stopping numbers from Jekyll and Hyde and Camille Claudelle and her showstopping signature song “Vienna”.

The one thing that I thought was pretty clear, is her comfort singing the country-pop songs that she wrote for her last album, “The Other Side of Me”. You could really see how she felt at “home” in a way.

And of course made everything personal- introduced the “Eder-ettes” sitting in the front row, congratulating one of them on her recent engagement and dedicated a song to her…Talking about her son, Jake, into a song she sings when she’s on the road missing her boy…all the way to letting the audience in on how her “non-diva” life goes on…(she explained she was washing her car earlier “because it needed it”, came inside to put her soaked sweats in the dryer- to find the Poland Spring man at the door while she stood in her kitchen- wearing only a sweater and a G-String. HA!)

The show was fun, she gave what you’d expect to hear, and so much more! I went backstage to introduce my friend to her and gave her a little thank you gift. One would think I would have brought 6 dozen bouquets of lily’s or something fancy schmancy…however, girl likes what she likes and hopefully cracked open one of the Blue Moons after I left to congratulate herself on an amazing night.

Cheers to Linda, to her new album, and a beautiful show. (why am i holding up my coffee mug waiting for someone to clink it?!)

I had the opportunity to see a brand new show, the world premiere of- “See Dick”.

Just what the doctor ordered

Apart from a handful of detailed show-histories, most shows’ evolution remains a mystery. So, I admit it’s a bit of a selfish pleasure to see a show early on, you know, before the kid is all grown up. Ironically, in this instance the comedy “See Dick…” is about the difference between growing up and growing older. Don’t worry, if there’s a message, it’s bubble wrapped in laughter. And those laugh lines come fast and furious as Jack, (the very antic and amusing Aaron Kaplan), a 30-something living in a tiny studio apartment facing a professional, private and love life that leaves everything to be desired is reintroduced to long lost childhood friend Dick, (James Hipp hysterical as the cartoon conscience). The problem is that Dick was Jack’s imaginary friend. What ensues is a heartfelt if hellish self help session with more then able and amusing assistance from new girlfriend Cass, (the versatile Katya Collazo) and his younger sibling Marcie, (a memorable Quinn Uniacke) with her toddler Sebastian, (played by a wonderfully method toddler named Sebastian) in tow. If laughter is the best medicine then this show presents a perfect prescription.

Keep an eye out for it…I have a feeling this one will be heading places.
