…A Steady Rain…fan review!
the big cheese (aka paul) got an email from a friend who went to see Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig in the new Broadway play ‘A Steady Rain’…here’s what she thought:
“Writing to give you my “Steady Rain” review. It is a 90 minute play with no intermission about 2 cops in Chicago who are best friends. It begins as friendly banter dialogue and progresses into separate monologues as the story unfolds and the secrets come out. It definitely keeps your attention all the way through.
HOWEVER—it is not a feel good play at all. I found it dark and quite upsetting. Casting a Brit and an Aussie who could not fully keep hold of the Chicago accents was a mistake (I can think of at least 20 actors who would have been better choices). Jackman was over the top a lot of the time, and Craig fumbled quite a few lines.
Despite this, I have great respect for Jackman and Craig because it was clearly not an easy task. I did not love it (and I love just about everything I see).
The best part of the day was lunch at Joe Allan. Delicious chicken sandwich with carmelized onions and cajun mayonaise followed by watermelon ice with shortbread cookies.
Love,
Suz”
THANK YOU SUZANNE HOCH!
